🌿 Introduction

Imagine a child walking beside his father on a dark country road.

The child cannot see very far ahead.

He does not know what lies around the next bend.

He cannot predict tomorrow.

But he keeps walking.

Why?

Because he trusts the hand that is holding his.

That picture helps us understand biblical faith.

Faith is not pretending that difficulties do not exist.

Faith is trusting God even when we cannot see the whole journey.

🌿 What Is Faith?

The Bible gives us a simple yet profound definition:

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
— Hebrews 11:1 (NIVUK)

Let's slow down and look at that verse carefully.

1️⃣ "Confidence in what we hope for"

Biblical hope is not wishful thinking.

It is confident expectation based on God's promises.

When God makes a promise, faith takes Him at His word.

2️⃣ "Assurance about what we do not see"

Faith does not depend upon seeing everything first.

If we could see everything, faith would not be necessary.

Faith trusts God's character even when circumstances are unclear.
