Now that we have seen why grace is amazing, let us ask a simple question:

What is grace?

In the Bible, grace is God's undeserved favour shown to sinners through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let's take that one step at a time.

1️⃣ God's Favour

What is favour?

Favour is kindness freely shown to someone.
It is choosing to bless, help, or show compassion.

When the Bible speaks about God's favour, it is speaking about His love, mercy, and kindness towards people.

2️⃣ Undeserved Favour

What does undeserved mean?

It means we have not earned it.
Imagine receiving a gift that you could never afford to buy.
You did not work for it.
You did not deserve it.
It was given because the giver loved you.
That is God's grace.

3️⃣ Shown to Sinners

Who are sinners?

The Bible teaches that every one of us has sinned.

Paul writes:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
— Romans 3:23 (NIVUK)

Let's understand what that means.

"For all..."

• Every person.
• No exceptions.
• Rich or poor.
• Young or old.
• Religious or not.

Every one of us needs God's grace.

"...have sinned..."

Sin is more than breaking rules.
It is every thought, word, attitude, or action that goes against God's perfect holiness and loving will.

It is choosing our own way instead of God's way.

"...and fall short of the glory of God."

Imagine trying to reach the highest mountain by jumping.

• Some may jump higher than others.
• But no one reaches the summit.

In the same way, no matter how good we try to be, we all fall short of God's perfect holiness.

That is why we need a Saviour.

4️⃣ Through Jesus Christ

God's grace comes to us through one Person—Jesus Christ.

• He lived the perfect life that we could never live.
• He died the death that we deserved.
• He rose again in victory over sin and death.

As the Apostle Paul declares:

"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." — Ephesians 1:7 (NIVUK)

Grace is not merely an idea.
Grace is God's gift to us through His Son.
Everything we receive from God begins and ends with Jesus Christ.
